The Celebrity Hotel is ready to reopen in late February

DEADWOOD, S.D. — The Celebrity Hotel in Deadwood, which has been closed for about 15 months, is set to reopen this month.

It was purchased by a new owner back in December and since then crews have been cleaning and preparing to open doors. The building is co-owned by several people, and one of those people was formerly the manager of the hotel, before it closed. Other than cleaning the hotel not much has change, just a few tweaks where needed.

“We have 22 very different rooms here, very nice rooms, we’ll have two gaming floors, part of the business package we put together is to pout retail on one section because we’ve got four different sections here.” said Ken Gienger, managing partner.

Part of the new business plan is to add a ladies boutique and they’re hoping to also add a jewelry store as part of the retail section of the facility. The hotel will be open for business on Friday, February 21.
