Thanksgiving meals were served up across the region Thursday

RAPID CITY, S.D. — In hopes that everyone could celebrate, many local organizations served Thanksgiving meals throughout the day, Thursday.

In Rapid City and Sturgis, charities organized meals for those in need and for those who simply wanted to spend it with others.

Knights of Columbus hosted their 26th annual meal at St. Thomas More High School in the early afternoon.

“It’s great. You feel really blessed to be able to provide this opportunity to other people, give back to the community,” said Dustin Waegner, Grand Knight of Knights of Columbus. “There’s a lot of people that are involved in it – lots of donors and volunteers who give their time and treasure to make this all possible.”

Cornerstone mission on Main Street in Rapid City was able to host several hundred people after opening their doors at 1 p.m. They also hosted a dinner in the evening. Sturgis Community Center hosted about 500 people at their 19th Annual Sturgis Community Thanksgiving Meal – Thursday afternoon.

Gold Bison Grill in the Rushmore Plaza Holiday Inn hosted a meal with musical guests Orion and Stacey Potter, singing.

No matter what city there was food and merriment to be had by all.
