Terry Peak Ski Area opens for the season

LEAD, S.D. – Clear skies on Friday made ideal conditions for opening day at Terry Peak.

Skiers and snowboarders took to the slopes for the first time this year. Three trails, two lifts, and the snow carpet are now open. Though only part of the mountain is open, staff is offering discounted lift tickets this weekend.

Staff, skiers, and snowboarders say they’re excited for the season.

“We just have a great mountain,” said Terry Peak Marketing Director Linda Derosier. “I mean with just over a 1,000 foot vertical drop, and once we’ve got everything open, we’ve got a nice mountain here.”

“Everyone’s really respectful and the mountain itself, it’s a one-of-a-kind mountain,” said Sherry Rosenau, a local skier.

Terry Peak is closed this coming week and will open next weekend for the rest of the season.
