Terry Peak looking to hire for the winter season

LEAD, S.D. – Winter is rapidly approaching, and staff at Terry Peak Ski Area are preparing for the massive influx of winter tourists by hiring more people to staff the mountain.

Staff at the ski resort held a job fair Saturday where around 100 people browsed through the mountain’s different jobs. There were positions in the cafe, as a ski instructor and countless others jobs.

The annual fair is the biggest driving force to help staff the mountain’s roughly 150 positions.

According to Terry Peak Marketing Director Linda Derosier, the job has its perks.

“One of the best benefits that our employees do get is to be able to ski and snowboard on the mountain,” said Derosier. “It’s a fun job and it’s exciting. Being in the ski and snowboard industry is really fun.”

Employees at Terry Peak also receive discounted meals as part of their benefit package.

In the meantime, however, snowmakers continue to make powder, and crews are gearing up. The tentative opening day is Dec. 7.
