Teens crash car into home in Rapid City
RAPID CITY, S.D. — A group of teenagers crashed a car into a home in Rapid City on Friday evening.
The accident happened shortly before 5 p.m. around the intersection of Mountain View Road and Arrow Street.
The Rapid City Fire Department told NewsCenter1 that there were four or five teens in the car, all thought to be under the age of 16. They say it’s difficult to know the exact number though because a few of the kids ran off, and those that stayed weren’t being truthful with officers on the scene.
One of the teens has been taken to the hospital and is expected to be okay.
There was one person in the house at the time. That person was not injured.
There is extensive damage to the front end of the home.
The Rapid City Police Department says the driver of the car is in youth detention and is being charged with hit-and-run and reckless driving.
Police say speed was a factor in the crash.
