Teen rescued after fall near Falling Rock

PENNINGTON COUNTY, S.D. — A Rapid City teen was badly injured in a fall around 4 p.m., Saturday near Falling Rock.

According to the Pennington County Sheriff’s Office, he was reportedly hiking with friends and lost his footing on loose rocks before rolling and hitting some rocks down about 150 feet.

Life Flight responded to the scene, but the 16-year-old male was taken by ambulance to Monument Health in Rapid City.

His medical condition is unknown at this point.
