Take a look at the annual Parade of Trees at SD Mines

RAPID CITY, S.D. – For the last 17 years, the School of Mines has put on a Parade of Trees to get people in the holiday spirit.

Each year, students vote on a theme. This year’s theme is “anything but a tree.”

There were 18 different groups that submitted a tree.

Over the course of three days, people are welcome to check it out and vote for their favorite based on six categories, including best lighting and most unique.

The smaller categories have some small prizes, but the grand prizes goes to the winner of the People’s Choice Award. The prizes have yet to be determined.

As students are preparing for finals week, the Parade of Trees provides them with an opportunity to relax and have a little fun.

“We want to give the campus and students a chance to just kind of relax, get involved around campus and have some friendly competition between each other. And it’s just a fun thing,” said Chris Pappas, a Student Engagement Assistant.
