The Grubby Games event kicked off at noon on Saturday
RAPID CITY, S.D. – The Grubby Games event kicked off at noon on Saturday.
The Grubby Games is a 24-hour event where a ton of people get together at South Dakota School of Mines and play videogames to raise money for charity.
That charity is Extra Life Children’s Miracle Network.
Extra Life helps fund critical life-saving treatments and healthcare services, along with innovative research, vital pediatric medical equipment and child life services.
This year, SD Mines is anticipating about $100 in donations that will be given to Monument Health.
There are six different universities that participated this year.
Prizes for the winning teams were donated from Link Technologies, Liv hospitality, Omnitech, and Elevate Rapid City.
Here are some photos from the very beginning of the event:
The event is still relatively new, but SD Mines is expecting the Grubby Games to continue to grow in the coming years.
