Sydney Shaw signs letter of intent with USD

STURGIS, S.D. – A Sturgis athlete signed a letter of intent on Wednesday to compete at the Division I level.

Sydney Shaw plans to run track next year for the University of South Dakota in Vermillion.

Shaw finished sixth last year at the state track meet in the 300 meter hurdles.

Sydney Shaw from Sturgis signed a national letter of intent to run track at the University of South Dakota.

The Sturgis senior said it was a difficult decision. But she decided that USD was the best choice.

“I went on a personal tour with my parents and my little brother and I got to see more of the school and I got to see students on campus and I really enjoyed that,” Sydney Shaw said. “Then I actually went a couple of weeks ago to talk to coach Huber and he showed me around the dome and the training room and the weight room and all the trainers. I just think that would be a really good fit for me and that visit really settled my decision.”
