SUV crashes into parked vehicle

RAPID CITY, S.D. — An accident was reported at the intersection of Elk Street and Fifth Street on Monday night.

Around 8:30 p.m. an SUV was on the side of the road with hazard lights on, as the driver had ran out of gas and left the vehicle. The driver of another SUV didn’t see them and crashed into the rear of the parked vehicle.

Citations were issued for careless driving, no proof of insurance and displaying substitute license plate. No injuries or signs of impairment were reported.

Black Hills Energy came out to inspect the power lines, but any damage did not appear to result in interruption of power to nearby residents.
