Suspect arrested in Marquette Drive shooting

The charges stem from an incident in which police were called early Monday morning to Marquette Drive for a report of multiple individuals who were struck by gunfire.

RAPID CITY, S.D. — A 22-year-old, Kyle, S.D. woman has been charged with one count of manslaughter and two counts of aggravated assault in relation to a shooting incident that took place on November 29 on Marquette Drive in Rapid City.

On Tuesday, police announced that Jesse Schmockel, who was being sought for questioning in regards to the shooting, had been located.

The charges stem from an incident in which police were called early Monday morning to Marquette Drive for a report of multiple individuals who were struck by gunfire.

When police arrived on scene, they found three individuals with gunshot injuries, two of whom had serious but non-life threatening injuries while the third was unresponsive. That third individual, a male, was declared dead on scene.

The Rapid City Police Deparmtent reminds the public that the charges are merely accusations and the arrested individual is presumed innocent until proven guilty.
