Suspect arrested in connection with Maple Ave stabbing
RAPID CITY, S.D. – Rapid City Police have identified the suspect arrested in connection with a stabbing at an apartment complex in the 1700 block of Maple Avenue, Thursday afternoon.
At around 3:15p.m. on May 20th, police were dispatched to a report of a stabbing that had just occurred. On arrival, police located a male subject with a stab wound to the chest and worked to provide emergency first aid to the individual. A medical unit arrived to the scene and transported the injured male to the hospital.
After speaking to witnesses, police learned the suspect responsible for the stabbing was identified as 28-year-old Jeff Shoulders of Kyle. Witnesses stated that Shoulders had run toward 100 Surfwood Drive following the stabbing and was now inside one of the apartments.
Police formed a perimeter around the apartment. At one point, Shoulders exited the apartment and he was taken into custody without further incident.
Shoulders was placed under arrest for Aggravated Assault and subsequently transported to the Pennington County Jail.
