Sturgis teen accused of murder has court hearing pushed back

STURGIS, S.D. — To be charged as an adult or move to juvenile court, the decision for a Sturgis teen accused of murder is still months out.

Seventeen-year-old Michael Gavin Campbell appeared in Meade County court Wednesday. He’s accused of shooting and killing 16 year old Shayna Ritthaler during an argument in his Sturgis home back in October.

In December, Campbell’s attorney filed a motion to move the case to juvenile court but the hearing to make the decision has been pushed back to May.
