STURGIS, S.D. – When you think of the Sturgis Motorcycle rally, the first things that come to mind are probably motorcycles and concerts. But racing is a big part of the annual event, as well. ULTRA4 racing held its latest round of racing at the Black Hills Throw-down event on Saturday at the Buffalo Chip Power Sports Complex east of Sturgis. The preliminary heats were held on Saturday morning and the finals in the afternoon. Nearly 90 drivers from across the country competed in the five different classes. In the 4500 Main event, Rick Lavezzo took the checkered flag followed by Duane Garretson and John grounds. The Black Hills Throw-down is one of 13 ULTRA4 racing events held in the United States, Europe and Australia. The racing action continues at the Buffalo Chip with the Gambler Mini Bike Endurocross on Monday, Aug. 9 and the Xtreem Flat Track Supper TT races on Tuesday and Thursday.
