Sturgis Library showcases new renovations
The Sturgis Public Library adds more space to their facility and renovates their Children's area.
The Sturgis Public Library is celebrating library card sign-up week with a ribbon cutting and dedication of the new children’s area and community room.
The new addition is an additional 500 square feet, that includes reading nooks, computer stations, a small group space.
The renovation also included a kitchen maker space area, which will serve as a multi purpose area and a place for community cooking classes.
The additional space was needed to keep up with the communities needs.
Julie Moore Peterson, Sturgis Library Director, says, “I think what we’ve done is look into the future a little bit, and we’ve tired to make the space a lot more accessible for our patrons. We want to make it flexible so that we can use the space in various ways.”
The new children’s area and community room were made possible by a generous gift from long-time Sturgis residents, Albert and Laverne Elliott.
