Students sing Christmas carols to veterans at Fort Meade

STURGIS, S.D. – For over a decade Douglas School’s Junior ROTC has traveled to Sturgis to spread Christmas cheer. The members of the pre-military program went to Fort Meade to sing Christmas carols to the veterans in the facilities. The students sang for over an hour and traveled to multiple units within Building 148.

For many, the holiday season is all about spending time with loved ones, but that’s not always the case for veterans with disabilities.

“We may be the only people they see for Christmas, other than the staff. I think it’s good for them to see somebody outside the hospital,” said retired USAF Lt. Col. Marshall Miller.
