Strong storms paving the way to rainy Memorial Day

RAPID CITY, S.D. — Strong storms will be making their way into the area this afternoon, setting the stage for a rainy Memorial Day.

Wyoming will be the first to see these storms in the midafternoon, which will likely bring lightning and hail.

Western South Dakota will be hit with storms in the early evening. Lightning and large hail are possible with these severe storms, which will transition into widespread thunderstorms throughout the night.

Rain is expected to continue for Memorial Day with 1-2 inches of rain possible. Flooding concerns will continue into the middle of the week.
