Strong pitching, clutch hitting leads Central softball team over Stevens

RAPID CITY, S.D. – For the second time in two weeks, Rapid City Central squared off against Rapid City Stevens on Monday night in girls softball.

During their first meeting back on August 26, the Raiders rallied in the fourth inning to beat the Cobblers, 6-4.

But their second game was a different story.

Led my strong pitching and timely hitting, the Cobblers shut out the Raiders on Monday, 8-0.

The Cobblers were led by Alyssa Burke who pitched all four innings and had six strikeouts, while allowing one hit.

Meanwhile, Molly England finished with three RBIs for Central.

The Cobblers improve to 12-3 on the season, while the Raiders fall to 9-5.

Central and Stevens will host Sioux Falls O’Gorman on Friday and Saturday, Sept. 13-14.
