Storm leads to power outages in the Black Hills, Rapid City

A strong line of thunderstorms crossed the Black Hills Friday evening, leading to homes and business losing their power.

RAPID CITY, SD – High winds and lightning is thought to be responsible for power outages in pockets across the Black Hills Friday evening.

Severe thunderstorms brought hail up to golf ball sized and 60 MPH wind gusts across the Black Hills.

Places like Baken Park were left in the dark, along with street lights and residential areas along Sheridan Lake Road.

There is no indication yet as to when power is expected to be restored.

High winds and heavy snow is expected to move into portions of the Black Hills Saturday morning.
