STM soccer standout signs SD School of Mines
RAPID CITY, S.D. — St. Thomas More senior Spencer Lund has had a storied high school soccer career.
Now he’s ready to take his skills to the collegiate level.
Lund signed a letter of intent on Monday afternoon to play soccer next year at South Dakota School of Mines and Technology in Rapid City.
Lund finished his high school career at St. Thomas More with a record 115 varsity goals and 40 assists.
He was also named first team all-conference and first team all-state last season.
Lund said he visited other universities before deciding to sign with the South Dakota School of Mines.
“I had to weigh the costs and the benefits,” STM soccer player Spencer Lund said. “In the end, the benefits of going to the South Dakota School of Mines and potentially coming out with a lot less debt than either of the other options, plus getting to play soccer, was really what solidified my decision.”
“His work ethic is above and beyond a lot of players that I’ve seen,” STM boys soccer coach Pete Sales said. “Like I said, whether its practice or games, he gives 110 percent and that’s what really stands out to him.”
