EUGENE, OR – It’s been quite the week for members of the Rapid City Stevens track team.

On Wednesday, Simeon Birnbaum made history by winning the one mile race at the Brooks PR Invitational in Seattle, with a time of 3:59.51.

Birnbaum joined Tanner Lunders, Justin Juniel and Alex Otten on Friday and won the 1600 medley relay at the Nike Outdoor Nationals in Eugene, Oregon.

The Raiders entered the final 800 meters in third place, about 20 meters off the lead.

But Simeon Birnbaum ran a scorching anchor leg and the Raiders went on to win the race in a time of 3:25.12.

So not only is the Raiders medley relay team National Champions, but they set a new South Dakota state record.
