Stevens High School to move to Level 3 starting Oct. 29

RAPID CITY, S.D. — Starting Thursday, October 29, 2020, Stevens High School will move to Level 3 due to continued new student and staff cases and quarantines at the school. 11 cases have been confirmed since Saturday, five of those cases are from Wednesday alone.

RCAS leadership said Level 3 will last through next week. They will also reassess sometime mid to late next week.

Level 3 means students will participate in E-learning, and it is recommended that parents communicate with their student’s teacher(s) and access schoolwork through Canvas and Gradebook.

Parents are also urged to be watchful with student’s symptoms suggestive of COVID-19 illness during the next 14 days. If your student is identified as being a close contact to the COVID-19 case, a RCAS employee or SD-DOH official will contact you.

Symptoms include:

  • Fever or chills
  • Headache
  • Cough
  • Loss of taste or smell
  • Shortness of breath or difficulty breathing
  • Sore throat
  • Fatigue
  • Congestion or runny nose
  • Muscle or body aches
  • Nausea, vomiting or diarrhea

If your student experiences any of these symptoms, RCAS asks that you please call your healthcare provider.

RCAS would like to thank everyone for their understanding in these unprecedented times.
