Stevens High School students mourn loss of classmate
RAPID CITY, S.D. – Students at Stevens High School are in mourning as they learn one of their classmates passed away over the holiday break from class.
Traven Bies, a sophomore at the Stevens died on Dec. 31 as a result of a farming accident.
A letter sent to Stevens High School Families from Katy Urban, Rapid City Area Schools Public Information Manager:
Dear Stevens High School Families,
As you may know, our school community experienced death this week. Traven Bies, a Stevens High School sophomore, died as a result of a farming accident on December 31.
Multiple counselors will be available to help our students and staff cope with this tragedy when school resumes next week. If you have any concerns about your teen’s reactions to this loss, please don’t hesitate to contact SHS counselors or administrative staff.
Our thoughts and prayers are with the Bies family during this difficult time. We also offer condolences to all the Stevens High School students and staff members, especially Traven’s classmates, friends, teachers and support staff.
