State Volleyball: RC Stevens, Faith Longhorns to play for consolation title

RAPID CITY, S.D. – The Rapid City Stevens volleyball team was looking to upset No. 2 Sioux Falls O‘Gorman on Friday in the State ‘AA’ quarterfinals.

But instead, the Knights defeated the Raiders in straight sets.

So Stevens moved onto the consolation semifinals on Friday and defeated Sioux Falls Lincoln 3-0. (25-18, 25-23, 25-12)

The Raiders were led by Bailee Sobczak who finished with eight kills followed by Sammi Sundby with six kills.

Stevens will play Sioux Falls Roosevelt on Saturday at 10:45 a.m. in the consolation championship match.



Faith defeated Bridgewater-Emery

The Faith Lady Longhorns have earned a spot in the State ‘B’ volleyball consolation championship match.

Faith defeated Bridgewater-Emery on Friday 3-1. (26-24, 19-25, 25-22, 25-23)

Aiyana Byrd played outstanding for the Lady Longhorns finishing with 17 kills.

Faith will square off against Chester Area on Saturday at 10:45 a.m.
