State Soccer: Pierre defends state AA championship with win over Stevens

RAPID CITY, S.D. – The South Dakota high school state soccer championships were held on Saturday at Sioux Park in Rapid City.

In the Class ‘AA’ girls finals, the Rapid City Stevens Raiders were hoping to unseat the defending state champion Pierre Lady Govs.

Neither team could find the back of the net in the first half.

But then Pierre scored two goals early in the second half and the Lady Govs captured the Class ‘AA’ state title for the second year in a row with a 2-0 victory over Stevens.
