State prison inmate Rudolph Gabe placed on escape status

RAPID CITY, S.D. — The South Dakota Department of Corrections has placed state prison inmate Rudolph Gabe on escape status.

Gabe left his community service jobsite in Rapid City on Thursday, August 12, without authorization.

Gabe, age 38, is a Native American male. He is 5-feet-11 inches tall and weighs approximately 225 pounds. He has black hair and brown eyes.

Gabe is currently serving an 18-year, 6-month sentence for first-degree robbery from Pennington County. Failure to return following an assignment constitutes second-degree escape, a Class 5 felony punishable by up to 5 years in prison.

Members of the public who see Gabe or know of his whereabouts, are asked to contact law enforcement immediately.
