STATE GIRLS BASKETBALL FINALS: White River girls claim first ever state championship

The state girls basketball tournaments wrapped up on Saturday with the finals.

White River captured the Class B state title with a 57-37 win over Castlewood.

The Tigers finished runner-up back in 1992.

But now White River has earned its first girls basketball championship in school history.

Caelyn Valandra-Prue scored 23 points in the finals.

Valandra-Prue finishes her career as No. 8 on the all-time South Dakota high school girls basketball career scoring list with 2,536 points.

Just five shy of Pine Ridge standout SuAnne Big Crow.
