State Cross Country: Abby Cutler, Cody Farland capture state titles

RAPID CITY, S.D. – Despite the poor conditions due to the weather, hundreds of runners competed for a state title on Saturday.

In fact, nearly 750 athletes from around South Dakota gathered at the Hart Ranch for the State Cross Country Meet.

State A Cross Country

It was a big day for the Hill City girls with freshman Abby Cutler winning the Class A title and the Rangers claiming their second team title in four years.

Cutler cleared the course in a time of 19:16.

Cody Farland from St. Thomas More won the State A boys title with a time of 16:15.

 

State AA Cross Country

Sioux Falls Lincoln won the State AA boys title for the third year in a row.

Rapid City Stevens finished in second place.

Sioux Falls O’Gorman won the State AA girls team title.

The Knights finished with 51 points followed by Sioux Falls Lincoln with 56.

 

State B Cross Country

The Bison boys won the State B title placing two runners in the top three.

Jonathan Burkhalter of Bison finished second followed by his teammate, Lane Krautschun.

Meanwhile, Kimball-White Lake claimed the State B girls team title.
