State Basketball: Brandon Valley boys and girls win state championships

RAPID CITY, S.D. —  Brandon Valley has a strong claim as the best basketball program in the state this year.

On Saturday night, both the boys and the girls basketball teams took home Class AA state titles.

Brandon Valley defeated Sioux Falls O’Gorman, 54-47 to win its first state boys basketball championship since 1998.

Carter Olthoff led the Lynx with 21 points followed by Gavin Terhark with 15 points.

Meanwhile, Brandon Valley won the girls basketball title by defeating Sioux Falls Lincoln, 60-40.

Trinity Law scored 17 points to lead the Lynx.

5th place: Sioux Falls Roosevelt 67, Sioux Falls Lincoln 49

5th place: Rapid City Stevens  44, Sioux Falls O’Gorman 41

7th place:  Sioux Falls Washington 45, Brookings 43

3rd place:  Pine Ridge  61,  Lennox 47

5th place:  St. Thomas More  71, Dell Rapids 69
