Sprinter Hannah Young signs with the University of South Dakota

RAPID CITY, S.D. – One of the top sprinters in the state made her college decision on Wednesday.

Hannah Young from Rapid City Central signed a national letter of intent to compete in track next year at the University of South Dakota in Vermillion.

Young is the defending state champion in the 200 meter dash. In fact, Young is a seven-time top four finisher at state in both the 100 and 200 meter dashes since 2015.

Her time of 24.74 seconds in the 200 puts her in the top 10 all-time in South Dakota history.

She’s also a member of two state championship relay teams.

Young plans to major in elementary education.

“When I went to the campus and visited the school and some of the girls on the team, I really enjoyed them,” Hannah Young said. “They were really nice and I feel like I’ll really feel at home there and I’ll have a lot of fun.”
