Spearfish man pleads not guilty to killing his wife

DEADWOOD, S.D. — A Spearfish man charged with murder for the January killing of his wife at their home has pleaded not guilty in front of a Lawrence County judge.

33-year-old Dreau Lester Rogers was arrested on January 22. Early that morning, police were called to the home on St. Joe Street and found a woman who had been shot. That woman was later identified as 43-year-old Destiny Dawn Rogers. She was pronounced dead on arrival at a Spearfish hospital.

Rogers remains in Lawrence County Jail without bond. A motions hearing is set for Friday, February 18.

If convicted of the first degree murder charge, Rogers will face either life in prison or the death penalty.
