Spearfish downgrades status to “No Travel Advised”

UPDATE (10/14/21 @ 7:00 a.m.): As of 7 a.m. Thursday, no travel restrictions are in place for the City of Spearfish.

SpearfishSPEARFISH, S.D. — The City of Spearfish is downgrading travel restrictions from “No Travel Allowed” to “No Travel Advised.”

Due to the increased accumulations of snow and increasing winds from the winter storm on Tuesday, Spearfish issued the “No Travel Allowed” status early Wednesday morning. This meant only emergency vehicles should be operating within city limits.

Snow removal crews will work in shifts over the next 24 to 48 hours to open streets. They will start with priority routes and work their way down into the neighborhood level.

It is anticipated that crews may be able to start on the neighborhood streets later this evening and overnight. The city asks people to take time to get vehicles off of streets ahead of plows.

Snow removal crews will not remove driveway windrows and will focus on opening streets, and travel restrictions will be lifted as streets become more passable.
