Southwest Regional High School Rodeo kicks off with full day of action

NEW UNDERWOOD, S.D. – Rodeo action continues this weekend with the Southwest Regional High School Rodeo in New Underwood.

It’s the final chance for local high school cowboys and cowgirls to try and qualify for the state finals coming up June 14-18 in Fort Pierre.  

The first performance was held on Saturday.

The final performance will kick off on Sunday at 10:30 a.m.

Bareback Riding

2nd place – Tyler Graf, Bennett County              62 points

Breakaway Roping

6th place – T. Merrill, Wall             4.61 seconds

1st place – Landry Haugen, Sturgis          2.83 seconds

 

Saddle Bronc Riding

2nd place – Thayne Elshere, Sturgis        72 points

1st place – Traylin Martin, Sturgis            75 points

 

Goat Tying

2nd place – Landry Haugen, Sturgis        8.05 seconds
