Southwest Middle School initiated 30-minute Secure Status Friday
RAPID CITY, S.D. – Southwest Middle School initiated a secure status for about 30 minutes Friday morning, after a student let an unidentified individual into a side door.
Because of the secured status, building administration and law enforcement quickly canvased the building to find and identify the unknown person.
After the search it was found that the person was a parent picking up a child.
Southwest Middle School is thankful that this incident “did not result in any harm to students,” and the school will “always error on the side of caution” to keep students safe.
