Southwest Middle School Awards

Students receive awards at end of year assembly.

The sound of applause filled the gym at Southwest Middle School Thursday, as many students were recognized as a part of the end of the year awards assembly.

Last year an award was created in honor of students Anna LeFort and Lilli Nehring, who both passed away in 20-17. Both students had a passion for serving others and this year’s service award was given to 8th grader Katherine Bernard for her volunteer work through her entire 3 years at Southwest.

The students honored this morning are setting an example for the younger students.

Lindsey Ruml, Southwest Middle School Principal, said, “The awards we give today are those who have given above and beyond perhaps the traditional student, and we like to do it in front of the entire student body so that are 6th graders can see what they can strive to be in 7th and 8th grade even and can work towards achieving some of the awards we present.”

Tonight the school will host an 8th grade dance to celebrate those students going to high school next year.
