South Middle School teacher receives grant for more STEM learning
RAPID CITY, S.D. – A south middle school science teacher can now STEM more learning projects with his students.
Throughout the school year, newscenter1 teams up with First Interstate Bank to gift teachers $500 to cover teaching expenses.
David Ireland a 6th-grade science teacher at South Middle School impressed the awarding panel with his passion for science. Mr. Ireland hopes to put the money towards furthering his students’ scientific abilities.
He knew his plans aligned with the districts’ emphasis on STEM learning and thought his planned projects would be a great fit for the 1+1 scholarship.
“I had a need for some supplies for an exploratory class and students are going to do science fair projects and we didn’t have a budget for that,” Ireland explains.
