South Dakota Women’s Prison inmate passes away overnight

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. — On Monday the Department of Corrections announced that a state prison inmate passed away.

Cynthia Thompson, 41, reported feeling ill overnight and was air lifted to a Sioux Falls hospital where she died on March 18.

Thompson was serving 3 years, with 1 year and 6 months suspended, for unauthorized ingestion of a controlled substance.
