South Dakota to vote on medical marijuana in 2020

PIERRE, S.D. — A successful petition for an initiated measure on legalizing medical marijuana was submitted for South Dakota’s 2020 ballot.

The Secretary of State Steve Barnett announced on Thursday that the petition met and exceeded the number of valid signatures to qualify for the ballot. Previous measures to legalize medical marijuana in the state were voted down in both 2006 and 2010.

Voters can expect to see Initiated Measure 26 on the 2020 General Election ballot on November 3, 2020.
