South Dakota man charged with sexual abuse, assaulting child with taser

PIERRE, S.D. — An Isabel man has been charged with child abuse, sexual abuse of a child, and assault with a dangerous weapon.

Theodore Taylor, 34, was indicted in May and pleaded not guilty last week to the charges.

Prosecutors allege that between 2013 and 2016 Taylor sexually abused a minor who had not yet attained the age of 12 years old. The indictment further alleges that between 2014 and 2015, Taylor assaulted the same minor with a dangerous weapon, that is, a taser.

The charges are merely accusations and Taylor is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.

The investigation is being conducted by the FBI. Taylor was released on bond pending trial — a date has not yet been set.
