South Dakota Highway Patrol announces police service dog’s end of watch

RAPID CITY, S.D. — The South Dakota Highway Patrol announced on Thursday that one of its retired police service dogs has been laid to rest.

According to a Facebook post, Koda passed away this week after a battle with pancreatitis and liver disease.

“We all say this about our own dogs, but she was one of the great ones,” the South Dakota Highway Patrol wrote.
