Number of COVID-19 cases in South Dakota now over 7,000

50 new cases were reported statewide on Saturday.

PIERRE, S.D. — On Saturday, the South Dakota Department of Health reported 50 new cases of COVID-19 in South Dakota, putting the state’s total at 7,028.

19 cases were found west river, 10 in Pennington County, five in Oglala Lakota County, two in Mellette County, and one each in Corson County and Lyman County.

The number of confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Pennington County stands at 556 while 409 have recovered. 147 cases are currently active in Pennington County.

There are currently 869 actives cases statewide, that number is up 37 from Friday. 13 people recovered from the virus on Saturday, leaving the state’s total of recoveries at 6,062.

The number of people that have been hospitalized from the virus is 54, down four from Friday. Nearly 700 people have ever been hospitalized from the virus.

No new COVID-19 related deaths were reported Saturday, leaving the state’s death toll at 97.
