Softball Roundup: RC Central opens the season with a pair of wins

RAPID CITY, S.D. — Rapid City Central opened the high school softball season on Friday with wins over Watertown and Brandon Valley.

The Cobblers defeated Watertown 9-0, followed by a win over Brandon Valley 6-0.

In the first game against Watertown, Alyssa Burke worked three innings for Central and finished with five strikeouts.

The Cobblers were led by Burke and Katie Paris who both finished with two hits and three RBIs.


RC Central 6, Brandon Valley 0

The Cobblers shut out Brandon Valley in the second game, 6-0.

Katie Paris worked all six innings for Central giving up four hits, while striking out four.


RC Stevens 15, Watertown 2

The Rapid City Stevens softball team also opened the season on Friday night.

The Raiders lost to Brandon Valley 9-0, before rolling over Watertown 15-2.

In the victory over Watertown, the Raiders were led by Sophie Dressler and Abbie Schoenberner who both had four RBIs.


Stevens and Central will return to action on Saturday with doubleheaders against Watertown and Brandon Valley.

The first games begin at 9 a.m. at the Parkview Softball Fields.
