Softball: Blackeman’s 2-run homer lifts Stevens over Central

The Rapid City Stevens softball team is off to another great start this season. The Raiders recently shut out Sioux Falls Washington to improve to 9-0 on the season.

Not only are the Raiders undefeated, but they’ve outscored their opponents, 83-32.

The Raiders were back in action Monday night against their rivals, Rapid City Central.

The game was scoreless through four innings. Finally in the fifth inning, Gracey Brink’s single to left field scored Sophia Schoeberl from third to give the Raiders a 1-0 lead.

However, Central tied it up at 1-1 in the top of the six after Alyssa Burke laid down a perfect bunt which scored Mackenzie Maher from third.

Stevens answered in the bottom of the sixth inning. Sarah Keen scored off of Molly McCloud’s sacrifice fly to left field. Then Sydney Blackeman hit a two-run homer to left-center field and Rapid City Stevens remain undefeated on the year with a 4-1 victory over Central.
