Soccer Roundup: Stevens girls defeat Central 2-1

Central, Stevens boys end in a draw

Rapid City Central and Stevens squared off on Tuesday night in a boys and girls soccer doubleheader.

The Cobblers swept the Raiders during their first meeting on Sept. 4.

It was an important night for all four teams, as the Cobblers and the Raiders are fighting to stay in the top eight in Class ‘AA’ in order to host a first round playoff match.

After trailing 1-0, the Central girls finally tied it up in the final 10 minutes of the match.

But Stevens scored moments later and the Raiders won the girls match, 2-1.

Bryanna Kuhn and Riley Schad each scored a goal for Stevens. Kylea Becker scored the lone goal for Central.

On the boys side, Central and Stevens settled for a 1-1 draw.

The match was scoreless at halftime. But Cayden Heinert scored a goal in the 54th minute to give the Raiders a 1-0 lead.

Later on, Jory Stephens scored his 11th goal of the season for Central.

The Cobblers wrap up the regular season on Saturday with a doubleheader in Belle Fourche, while the Raiders will host Spearfish on Saturday in a doubleheader at Sioux Park.
