SOCCER ROUNDUP: Spearfish boys take care of St. Thomas More

RAPID CITY, S.D. – St. Thomas More wrapped up the regular season on Tuesday by hosting Spearfish in boys soccer.

Both teams are still fighting for playoff positions.

In fact, if the postseason started today, both St. Thomas More and Spearfish would host a first round playoff match.

After a close first half, Spearfish pulled away to beat STM, 6-3.

Tom Solano scored on a penalty kick midway through the first half to give the Cavaliers the lead.

But the Spartans responded with goals by Kellan Scott and Tayte Schatz.

Spearfish improves to 7-3-2 on the season, while the Cavaliers fall to 9-4.

The Spartans will wrap up the regular season on Thursday, Sept. 29 against Rapid City Stevens at Sioux Park.
