Snow and ice lead to dangerous road conditions, warnings from authorities

RAPID CITY, SD — Cold early morning temperatures and wet roads are producing slippery conditions all over the Black Hills area this morning.

The snow and ice built up from overnight are causing slow commutes and multiple accidents, leading city and state authorities to caution drivers as they travel.

The intersection of Deadwood Avenue and Commerce Road saw an accident around 7:30 a.m., resulting in damage to two vehicles and an additional slowdown of traffic, which has since been cleared.

Temperatures are expected to drop rather than rise through the day today, with light accumulations expected across much of the Black Hills Region.
