Slide Down to Main Street Square for its Ice Rink Opening

An ice day for skating! Well that is the hope. Main Street Square will open its ice skating rink Saturday November 23rd and is sure to be a great kick off to the holiday season. The process for building the rink began at the end of October and consisted of specialized matting being put down and then flooded and frozen for ice skating.

There is a nominal fee for day passes and skate rentals, but 10-day family packages are also available. Once a month, during the open season, there will also be movie nights where there will be something for everyone. Cool Runnings, and Elf for lovers of holiday comedies and The Mighty Ducks for “90s kids”. Movies will begin at dusk and are free to the public.

Weather this weekend will be rather warm and comfortable with temperatures in the mid-50s. It will be great news for those who enjoy warmer temperatures, but it will delay the opening of the rink from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday. There will be a high of around 54° and a low of around 36°, with winds gusting between 20 and 30 mph. For ice skating aficionados or those just trying their best, keep an eye out for rink delays and closings in the case of warmer weather, which may melt the ice. Have a cool weekend folks!
