Show and Sell Holiday Market

Rapid City Naja Shriners

Rapid City, SD — The Naja Shriners held their Show and Sell Holiday Market at the Rapid City Shriners Temple on Saturday. The Shriners are a branch of Masons, but their focus is the care of children.

David Jeffries, the President of the Local Naja Shriners says “Our whole purpose is to raise money for the 22 odd Shriners hospitals for children that we support. And we do that by having a whole lot of fun.”

There are a number of Shriners childrens hospitals and clinics around the country, but the Minneapolis location is nearest to Rapid City. Local Shriners work to make sure children have transportation to and from medical appointments. While it is a taxing 12 hour drive, volunteers are more than glad to be able to help families in need, and the funds from Saturday morning’s event helps them to continue their work.

Don Stover a local Shriner also weighed in, saying, “This event today is to help raise funds for our unit. We’re a hillbilly unit. And our unit then takes that money and we support the functions that he just talked about with the hospitals and the clinics where we take the children.

The group works with children of all ages. They even have children they consider miracles who have grown up to have a quality life as a result of their generosity.
