Shop smart this weekend during the 10th Annual Small Business Saturday in Rapid City

RAPID CITY, S.D. — It’s the 10th Annual Small Business Saturday in Rapid City this weekend. With a variety of stores and deals, its a great time to shop while supporting local businesses, provided you can get downtown safely in this weather.

“The important reason why anyone should be shopping local is because you are supporting your community. You’re supporting your neighbor. That’s the most important thing,” says Alicia Hocke, owner of Pure Fox. “If you want to keep downtown thriving and beautiful then you need to come downtown and you need to spend your money so that these shops like mine and everyone down here can stay open.”

“I think it’s always important to support your downtown stores and businesses,” says Arnette Correa, manager of Revival boutique. “I think it helps vitalize the economy and it also I think brings a sense of community to the downtown areas. And I think here we’re very fortunate if you go up and down the street, there’s a lot of businesses and entrepreneurs that have a lot of very awesome stores and are very creative and have unique gifts and finds, and great restaurants.”

When shopping for the holidays – what’s better – fun or functional gifts? Turns out, you may not have to choose, as store owners in Rapid City have options that fit both requirements.

Shops at Main Street Square have a variety of gift ideas for the whole family, from games, books, clothing and travel there is something for everyone.

“We have a little something for everyone,” says Bill Bernhard, sales associate at Roam’n Around, “We have a great array of maps for whenever you’re going on a trip. Not to mention suitcases, we have a lot of options for luggage whether its a carry on or a luggage you’re going to check. We have packing cubes to organize and keep your suitcase a little more organized but also to maximize your space.”

Rapid City will be celebrating their 10th Annual Small Business Saturday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Saturday.

This will be a great time to nab those fun and functional gifts. But if you find yourself venturing outdoors be aware of weather conditions.
