Sewer smell prompts temporary evacuation at Robbinsdale Elementary

Robbinsdale Elementary School in Rapid City, S.D. on Dec. 7, 2018

RAPID CITY, S.D. – A false alarm at Robbinsdale Elementary School led to a temporary evacuation Friday morning.

School officials notified parents about a strong odor, thought to either be a gas leak or a backed up sewer. And it turned out that the worrisome smell was from the sewer.

Students were en route to South Middle School when the all-clear was given by the Rapid City Fire Department. Students are back in class.
